Bioidentical Hormone Replacement (bHRT)

separator_edited.png

Bioidentical hormone replacement is the practice of using hormones that have the exact same chemical structure as the naturally occurring hormones in your body to restore the hormone levels to those mirroring that of a more youthful age.

These hormones are indistinguishable from the hormones naturally produced by the body which means that there are very few, if any, serious side effects. This allows us to positively impact each clients health and improve their quality of life.

While we do monitor your hormone levels during treatment our overall goal is to improve your symptoms and restore the protective benefits that the hormones offer with the least amount of risk of side effects.

Frequently asked questions

When do hormones start to decrease?

Testosterone and estrogen start to decrease in or late 20’s & 30’s. Our bodies go through a process called andropause/menopause in our 50’s.

What are some of the symptoms of hormone deficiency?

Females typically experience hot flashes, low libido, night sweats, memory loss, weight gain, depression, painful intercourse and thinning/drying of the skin. Males typically experience prolonged fatigue, muscle weakness, vaginal dryness, memory lapse, fibromyalgia and decreased libido.

How are hormone deficiencies diagnosed?

With bHRT we strongly rely on symptoms and improvement of these symptoms. We do check lab work, with a take home test, to confirm our diagnosis.

How are hormones deficiencies treated?

We utilize pellet therapy in combination with oral therapy, if needed. With this treatment, a small pellet, no larger than a grain of rice, is painlessly inserted under the skin of the buttocks in females or the flank in males. These pellets contain either pure estradiol or testosterone (the active hormones in the body). Over a period of 3-6 months (3-4 for females, 5-6 for males), the hormones contained within these pellets are absorbed by the body and the pellets dissolve completely.

How do you know the treatment is working?

We rely strongly on the improvement/changes in your symptoms to help us understand if the dosage is working for you and if any changes need to be made. We do monitor blood work periodically to ensure the hormone levels remain in a safe range.

What are the benefits of hormone replacement?

For women, therapy is useful, and successful, in defeating the symptoms of menopause and perimenopause. This includes improvements in hot flashes and night sweats, decreased risk of osteoporosis, decreased mood swings and improvement in the overall feeling of well-being. For men, the benefits of treatment with testosterone include, but are not limited to, reduced osteoporosis, lower bad cholesterol and triglycerides and increase in good cholesterol, improved libido and erectile dysfunction, mental sharpness and emotional well-being. Regulation of estradiol levels in men may also help decrease the risk of prostate cancer.

Do you prescribe traditional/injectable hormone replacement?

Yes, we do offer these services if you prefer. We also offer services to help preserve fertility, reduce gynecomastia and other related treatments. You can take our Hormone Deficiency Screening Test here (https://web.keepglowingmedicalspa.com/intake/index.php/839353)

Weight Loss

separator_edited.png

It is a well established fact that you can safely lose more weight, and keep it off, when working with a doctor. Proper weight loss is a combination of lifestyle changes and, if needed, medication balance.

We offer diet and exercise counseling, diet monitoring, and some of the latest medications for weight loss. We work with you to help you make lifestyle changes so you can lose the weight and keep it off.

Every one of our programs is specially tailored to each individual client. We take the time with each client to get to know them, find out what has worked and, more importantly, what hasn’t worked and why. We work with you to change your lifestyle, not just your diet. Our program isn’t just for people who are overweight or obese, it’s for everyone. Whether you are looking to lose the baby weight, or slim down before summer or just learn to live a healthier lifestyle, we can partner with you.

Our philosophy

It has always been Dr. Mike’s philosophy, in all aspects of medicine, people will follow your instructions if they know why things are happening and how things work. He brings the same philosophy into this program.

We teach you how your body works, how different foods are processed, what is the proper level of exercise for you, how to reach your goals, and most importantly, how to deal with not achieving your goals but keep going.

We use education, meal planning, exercise planning, supplements, vitamins and medications to get you on your path to success. Think of our program like a pair of training wheels on a bike, you need us until you learn to do everything yourself, then there’s no looking back.

We want you to join our program once, reach your goals and learn these important health and life skills, then go out and succeed on your own. Other programs set you up for failure because they know when you fail, you will come back to their program.
