Port-Wine Stain

Port-wine stains are red/purple discoloration of the skin caused by a capillary malformation. These are typically present from birth and most commonly occur on the face & neck but can be found anywhere on the body. These lesions typically lighten by adulthood, utilizing this treatment allows us to eliminate any remaining pigment and leave you with clear skin.

Frequently asked questions

How are vascular lesions treated?

This treatment works by targeting the blood within the vessel which generates heat and destroys the blood vessel.

What type of vessels can be treated?

We can treat vessels that are red, blue or purple that are up to 4mm in width.

How much downtime can I expect?

There is little to no downtime expected with these procedures. At most you may have some redness and inflammation that may last up to 24 hours.

When will I see results?

With the treatment we are closing off the blood vessel so you can expect to see an almost immediate result.

Does this treatment hurt?

This treatment feels like a rubber band snapping on the skin. The pain is tolerable but we offer topical anesthetic to reduce any pain you may experience.

Color & Pigment

The sun can damage our skin any time of the year if we are not wearing sunscreen. This can lead to discoloration, uneven skin tone and sun spots.

Frequently asked questions

How are pigmented lesions treated?

We use a short burst of laser energy, focused on the lesion, to break up the pigment. For larger lesions, such as sun damaged skin with sun spots, we quickly treat the entire area to blend and even the skin tone. Over 1-2 weeks the treated areas will fade.

How many treatments are needed?

You will see a change in the treatment area with one treatment. For darker, or very large lesions, you may need up to 3 treatments for complete elimination.

Does it hurt?

The level of discomfort will depend on your pain tolerance. We offer topical anesthetic to reduce discomfort and pain.

What areas can be treated?

Just about every area that is exposed to sun can be treated for sun damage. Dark colored freckles & some moles can be treated as well. Please note that atypical appearing lesions will need to be evaluated by a dermatologist prior to treatment to rule out any potentially cancerous lesions.
