io-identical hormone replacement is the practice of using hormones that have the exact same chemical structure as the naturally occurring hormones in your body to restore the hormone levels to those mirroring that of a more youthful age.
These hormones are indistinguishable from the hormones naturally produced by the body which means that there are very few, if any, serious side effects. This allows us to positively impact each clients health and improve their quality of life.
The pharmaceutical industry produce hormone drugs, typically from pregnant mare (horse) urine, that are structurally different than human hormones which often bind to human hormone receptors too strongly which can lead to serious health complications and side effects.
Our goals of treatment with bio-identical hormones are to improve your symptoms and restore the protective benefits that the hormones offer with the least amount of risk of side effects.
Hormones and Aging
Our hormones tend to peak in our 20’s-30’s then continue a gradual decline as we age.
- Estradiol: Begins to decline at age 25, disappears by age 50
- Progesterone: Begins to decline starting at age 30
- Growth hormone: Begins to decline at age 25 by 14% every decade
- DHEA and Testosterone: Begin to decline at age 20, by age 50 there has been a 50-80% decrease
- Cortisol: Increases with age and stress. Sudden drops can cause “adrenal fatigue”

Diagnosis of Hormone Deficiency
Symptoms of different hormone imbalances can overlap. The only accurate way to diagnose hormone deficiency is by labs. We utilize home based salvia and/or blood testing, combined with client symptoms, to identify hormonal deficiency. We check baseline lab work before starting any treatments and continue to monitor lab work and symptoms for efficacy every 3-4 months during your treatment.
Treatment of hormone deficiency
The goal of treatment with bio-identical hormones are to improve your symptoms and restore the protective benefits that the hormones offer with the least amount of risk of side effects. We start with a low dose and slowly increase, this allows us to maintain the most benefit with the lease amount of risk.
How do we treat deficiency?
We want to make treating hormone deficiency as easy as possible, therefore we utilize pellet therapy in combination with oral therapy if needed. With this treatment, a small pellet, no larger than a grain of rice, is painlessly inserted under the skin of the buttocks. These pellets contain either pure estradiol or testosterone (the active hormones in the body). Over a period of 3-4 months, the hormones contained within these pellets are absorbed by the body and the pellets dissolves completely.
What are the benefits of treatment?
For men, the benefits of treatment with testosterone include, but are not limited to, reduced osteoporosis, lower bad cholesterol and triglycerides and increased good cholesterol, improved libido and erectile dysfunction, mental sharpness and emotional well-being. Regulation of estradiol levels in men also help decrease the risk of prostate cancer.
For women, therapy is useful, and successful, in defeating the symptoms of menopause and perimenopause. This includes improvements in hot flashes and night sweats, decreased risk of osteoporosis, decrease mood swings and improvement in the overall feeling of well-being.
